Jacksonville father of 3 recovering after fiery head-on crash on I-295

A Jacksonville father of three is recovering after he was seriously hurt in a fiery, head-on crash on I-295.

Jason Stefano, 32, had a shattered pelvis, broken ribs, a broken ankle and internal injuries after the head-on crash on 295 south of Baymeadows Road on July 2.

A GoFundMe page says Stefano was hit by a drunk driver while he was on his way to work at approximately 4:45 a.m.

Stefano's 2006 Ford Mustang and a 2015 Chevy sedan, driven by 23-year-old Xavien Hamm, was charred after the crash.

Stefano and Hamm were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Florida Highway Patrol has not released toxicology test results for Hamm.

The GoFundMe page says Stefano has three young children.

Stefano will be unable to work during many months of therapy for his life-altering injuries, the page says.

Action News Jax reached out to FHP for an update on the investigation.
