Jacksonville forecast for the total solar eclipse

The solar eclipse is today -- and you might be wondering where the best spot is in Jacksonville to see it.

The most ideal place to see the eclipse in Jacksonville is along the coast, First Alert Meteorologist Garrett Bedenbaugh said. The partial eclipse will start at about 1:16 p.m.

Fair visibility for the eclipse will be at 2:47 p.m. and will end by 4:11 p.m. The best viewing will be at the beaches because there will be afternoon inland storms.

The best viewing will be east of I-95 all the way to the beaches. The storms will generally be along and west of I-95.

St. Augustine is also a good option.

The entire Jacksonville area will be experiencing partly to mostly cloudy skies.
