Jacksonville Housing Authority tight-lipped on why CEO temporarily replaced

An interim CEO will take over at the Jacksonville Housing Authority next week.
JHA leaders would not answer any of Action News Jax’s questions about why CEO Fred McKinnies is being replaced, at least temporarily.
McKinnies was at home in his pajamas when Action News Jax showed up to get his side of the story.
He closed the door without providing any answers.

JHA Vice President of Housing Management Dwayne Alexander is taking over for McKinnies.

Action News Jax sent the city a public records request for any documentation of complaints about abuse of power at JHA.

The city denied our request, but the statute it cited for denial could be a clue; it’s about the conditions under which complaints of discrimination are exempt from public record.

That response implies there could be open discrimination complaints.

McKinnies has been working for JHA since 1993.

Alexander joined JHA six months ago.
