Jacksonville Jaguars surprise Englewood High with new football uniforms

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — In celebrating 25 years of Jacksonville Jaguars football, the team is partnering with former cornerback Rashean Mathis to give back to Englewood High School in Jacksonville.

Mathis attended Englewood High.

In September, the Jaguars and Mathis unveiled a brand-new locker room for the team.

Before the fanfare, Mathis spoke to Action News Jax about what the uniforms mean for not only the team, but the entire school.

"You never know whose lives you're touching," he said. "You think you're just touching athletes, but when it's all said and done, you're actually touching the entire school and that's what it's all about."

Rams' head coach J.D. Stalvey said there's nothing quite like having the support of an NFL team, and an alum turned NFL standout.

"Having them and having Rashean around the kids, it's just a great," said Stalvey. "Just to see that he made it and is now giving back to the community now is the biggest part."
