Jacksonville man accused of threatening local Magic the Gathering players

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville man is in jail, accused of threatening a group of men with whom he plays Magic the Gathering.

Jacksonville Game Center owner Timothy Miller told Action News Jax he called the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office after seeing a Facebook video posted by 36-year-old Conrad Ginder.

Miller said Ginder has been coming to the center to play Magic for about a year.

Magic is a strategy card game involving wizards and mythical creatures.

Millions of people play it for fun or competitively in tournaments.

The JSO report on Ginder’s arrest said he posted a video on Facebook waving a short barrel shotgun and threatening several fellow gamers by name.

The video has since been taken down.

"In reporting the incident, which did not occur at our location, to the proper authorities; we did what we felt was necessary to insure that our dedication to the safety of our guests, both while they are here, and (as much as possible, when they are not) was maintained," Miller told Action News Jax in an email.
Ginder is being held at the Duval County jail on $125,006 bond.

Action News Jax spoke to a family member who surrendered Ginder’s gun to police, according to the JSO report. She did not want to comment on his arrest.
