Jacksonville man arrested on child porn charges

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE:

A Woodland Acres man was arrested on ten charges of child pornography possession. Investigators say Ingram used an online chatroom called 'Chatstep' to access images of a four to five year old girl.

“I have eight kids here," said a neighbor who did want to be identified. "That’s scary.”

'Chatstep' reported the transmission of child pornography to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The NCMEC passed a cybertip to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO).

“He never talked to anybody around here," said Richard Clifton, a neighbor. "He’s the quiet guy that just kept to himself.”

Action News Jax law and safety expert Dale Carson tells us third parties keep a watchful eye for illegal chat room activity. Investigators were able to link the IP Address to a physical address in Jacksonville.

They carried out a search with a warrant in January and say they found electronic devices with more evidence. The report details ten pornographic pictures and video files of children. Some possibly as young as two to three years old.

“I don’t know I’m at a loss for words," said the neighbor. "To me that’s just sickening.”

Carson tells Action News Jax the sites used for exchanging child pornography disappear and re-appear frequently.

“There are many many different websites and chat rooms that cater to these kinds of people,” said Carson.

Carson went on to say many of these sites are used primarily for illicit purposes. Nonetheless, parents should still keep a watchful eye on their children.

“Parents always should remain vigilant in keeping their children away from the open internet,” said Carson.

Action News Jax is receiving reports Ingram is a member of a local band. We are working to confirm this information.

Each charge carries a bond amount of about $150,000.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A Jacksonville man is facing charges of possession of child pornography.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrested Adam Ingram, 42, on June 8 after investigating a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

A police report said Ingram was involved in an online chat room where images were displayed.

JSO said it got two separate tips that a man was using an anonymous chat app to download child porn.

The Chatstep app recorded Ingram's IP address, police said.

JSO said in a report it obtained a search warrant and found child pornography on several devices belonging to Ingram.

Ingram was arrested at a home on Galveston Avenue and faces 10 counts of possession.
