The shooting occurred on Oct. 19, 2017. Prosecutors said Mickens was hit by a bullet during a gunfire exchange between Littles and a man the boy's mother was seeing.

Authorities said Connor died days later after being shot in the head.

Connor's family is working to create an open dialogue about the dangers of domestic violence in the city of Jacksonville.
