• Report: Jacksonville man trips while pointing gun at officers

    A Jacksonville man was arrested after he pointed a gun at officers and then tripped during a foot pursuit, authorities said.

    Travis Muller, 25, is facing several charges after he ran from officers during a traffic stop on July 9, according to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

    Muller was pulled over for a stop sign violation on Rayford Street at approximately 9:15 p.m.

    Muller ran from his car after officers walked back to their patrol car, JSO said.

    Two officers pursued Muller on foot. As Muller ran away, he reached into his front waistband and pulled out a black Glock 19, JSO said.

    He had the gun in his right hand and began to turn toward the officer when he tripped, officers said.

    He fell and dropped the gun on the ground, JSO said.

    Officers said they arrested him and found another gun in his pocket.

    Muller also had cocaine and marijuana on him, according to JSO.

    Officers said that while Muller was being taken to jail, he said, "You should've shot me for what I did."

    Muller is charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed firearm, resisting an officer and armed possession of marijuana among other charges, JSO said.
