Mother of three crashes motorcycle into Jacksonville restaurant, dies

A woman was killed Wednesday morning after crashing into a restaurant, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

At approximately 3:14 a.m., the woman who was riding a motorcycle, lost control when she attempted to make a turn south on University Boulevard and Terry Road. The woman struck a curb, hit a low concrete wall, a steel pole and crashed into a nearby Firehouse Subs. The woman died at the scene.

Family identified the woman to Action News Jax as Grace Jimenez, a 41-year-old mother of three children. Family said she was raising the children on her own.

Jimenez loved motorcycle riding and recently took a motorcycle trip across the country to California, according to her family.

Officers said Jimenez was wearing a helmet when the crash occurred. They are working to learning if drugs or alcohol were involved.

Crews found the speedometer reading 70 mph while clearing debris where the motorcycle crashed.

This is the 52nd traffic fatality in 2018 according to JSO. This is also the second motorcycle fatality this week in Northeast Florida. On Sunday, a Yulee mother of five was killed when she was thrown from a Harley and was run over on State Road 200. 

The Jimenez family have created a GoFundMe account for those who would like to help out during this difficult time.
