Jacksonville native killed during severe weather in the Midwest

A Jacksonville family is making sure their son and his family, who were killed in the Midwest’s severe weather, are celebrated locally.

Kristina Charnes' son, Brandon Beasley, grew up in Jacksonville.

On Friday she told Action News Jax he moved away but the plan was always for him to come back. Then he met Christin on his first day of 10th grade.

“'Oh by the way, I met the girl I’m going to marry.' He never let go of it. That’s what it was going to be,” Charnes said.

The couple’s home is in Missouri.

It’s where they set up a nursery for their daughter, due in June.

Charnes said she was keeping a close eye on the flooding and rain in the Midwest, worried for her son.

“The night before the storms had been so bad, and I saw on the news, it was like, it’s not hitting Missouri. I was like, 'Oh good, my kids are going to be fine,'” she said.

The mom said on Tuesday, Brandon and Christin Beasley's SUV skidded across the center of U.S. 160 and hit a tractor-trailer.

The crash killed the couple and their unborn daughter, Paisley.

Missouri State Highway Patrol said heavy rain was a factor in the crash.

“That’s it. That’s my family. They were all in the car,” Charnes said, crying.

According to loved ones, funerals for all three are being held in Missouri.

Charnes wanted to celebrate the young family in the community where Brandon Beasley grew up.

“I’m sad, not just for me, but for the world because he had so much light,” she said.

The memorial service is set for Saturday at Dinsmore Baptist Church. Prayers will begin at 1 p.m.
