Jacksonville officer under investigation for child porn charges commits suicide in Clay County

A Jacksonville Sheriff's Officer under investigation for child porn charges committed suicide in Clay County.

Allan Richardson was a veteran with JSO for more than 17 years, according to his church's website.

Richardson helped lead the children's ministry at Riverstone Community Church, according to his bio on the Church's website.

Investigators served a search warrant at his home Feb. 6 and seized several electronics. The warrant said child porn was found on Richardson's church computer.

The report said when questioned, Richardson told investigators "if I was going to watch child pornography, I wouldn't be stupid enough to upload it or download it."

Electronics from Richardson's home were seized for a forensic download.

Investigators say they found child pornography on Richardson's church computer just days before he committed suicide.

Pastor Ricky Baldwin with Riverstone Community Church says Richardson was the children’s pastor for eight years.

“Never in a million years would you ever thought that was possible that’s why it’s so hard to believe now.”

Baldwin says there were no signs of wrong doing and he is grieving for Richardson’s family.

"I don't know what all is going to come out, or what is yet to come out I don't know any of that. But we loved him and we love his family and plan to stick by his family."

JSO says they were not aware of a child porn investigation until Richardson’s death.
