Arrest made in shooting off Drum and Copper Streets

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 7/21/2019 9:30 PM: The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of Carlos Roberto Ramos Carias for murder, tampering with a witness and aggravated assault.

TRENDING:

When police arrived to the area of Copper and Drum Streets in reference to a burglary and shooting, they found a dead man with an apparent gunshot wound and a knife in his hand. Carias was also present and was detained on the scene.

After investigating and interviewing witnesses, detectived determined the shooting was a result of an altercation after the victim tried to retreive a woman's phone that Carias had taken earlier that night at a dance club.

Witnesses said the victim did not have anything in his hands when he was shot and that Carias put a knife in the victim's hand after he was shot.

The gun Carias allegedly used was reported stolen in 2018 from a vehicle on San Pablo Road. The suspect claimed to have purchased the gun from someone on the street.
