Jacksonville police release new photos of man who shot at officer

Jacksonville police have released new photos of a man they say shot at an officer in San Marco.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said an officer made contact with the man after a call about a suspicious person outside a business in the 2000 block of San Marco Blvd. Saturday.

Police said the man turned around, pointed a firearm at the officer and fired one round.

The officer was not hit and did not return fire, JSO said.

Officers chased the suspect to Hendricks Avenue, where he was last seen running north.

JSO released a sketch of the man on Saturday.

He is described as a white male between 35 and 40 years old who is approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall.

Officers said he is slim with dark reddish-brown hair worn in a ponytail.

His long beard was braided and he was last seen wearing a black tank top and black long pants.

A restaurant manager told Action News Jax that she warned employees to be cautious when walking to their cars at night. She said she also hung the suspect's sketch in the restaurant.

Officers are asking anyone with information about the suspect or incident to call JSO at 904-630-0500 or email JSOCrimeTips@jaxsheriff.org.
