Jacksonville sailor stationed at Pearl Harbor aboard USS Oklahoma in 1941 accounted for

Navy Seaman 1st Class Herbert J. Poindexter Jr., 24 has been accounted for. 
The sailor from Jacksonville was stationed at Pearl Harbor aboard the USS Oklahoma during the Dec. 7, 1941, attack by the Japanese.
Poindexter, along with 428 other crew members, died in the attack. 
Many of the unidentified remains from the attack, including Poindexter, were buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, also known as the Punchbowl.

In 2015, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency exhumed the unidentified remains from the cemetery and began the process of making identifications. 
"
To identify Poindexter's remains, scientists from DPAA used dental and anthropological analysis.  Additionally, the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System used mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) analysis," the DPAA said.
