Jennifer Thornton, 40, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of grand theft after she allegedly stole merchandise from a Westside Walmart on Normandy Blvd.

Employees at the store said they were watching Thornton as she shopped in the store due to an excessive amount of items placed in the shopping cart.

Police said Thornton scanned and paid for three items, but she had 121 different items in her shopping cart.

Thornton told investigators that she did not put the items in her cart because she knew she didn’t have the money to pay for it.

When asked why she tried to leave the store with the merchandise, Thornton claimed she didn’t do it. Instead, she stated it was her husband’s fault.

Her bond was set at $10,003.
