JCPenney employee accused of fraudulent transactions totaling $14,500 in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 21-year-old JCPenney employee was arrested after she admitted to stealing and making fraudulent transactions that totaled more than $10,000.

Officers questioned Lenora Mack after a JCPenney employee at The Avenues Mall in Jacksonville reported she had committed thefts and fraudulent transactions that totaled more than $14,500.

The employee told officers that surveillance video showed Mack charging customers for a few items but the customer would leave with bags full of merchandise.

The report said the transactions took place between Nov. 8 and Dec. 5.

Mack admitted to officers she would "hook up" people she knew with brand name clothing like Nike and Levis by charging them less than the dollar amount of the merchandise.

She said she also gave away a lot of clothing for free.

She estimated her fraudulent transactions caused JCPenney a total loss of more than $10,000.

She told officers she knew it was wrong but she needed the money for bills.

She was charged with grand theft.
