The baby has been identified by police as Karsyn Wayne Magum.

JFRD spokesman Tom Francis released this statement about Lt. Hohorst:

"Lt. Hohorst has been a member of the JFRD since 3/6/1989.  Sorry, but all details (including applicable familial relationships) as related to the incident will have to be released by JSO who are performing the investigation."

The Department of Children & Families is investigating.

“Deaths like the 8 month old’s from over the weekend are preventable.  DCF has a lot of questions about this case as it continues to investigate. DCF investigators are waiting on autopsy and medical records, which will take some time to get,” said DCF spokesman John Harrell.
