JFRD brings house fire in Northwest Jacksonville under control

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded to a house fire at 8th Avenue and Clyde Drive on Thursday night.

Firefighters got the call at 9:41 p.m. They say the fire was visible when they arrived at the scene.

Multiple units -- including four engines, two ladders, a tanker and two rescue units -- responded to the fire, according to District Chief Steve Gerbert.

Firefighters searched for occupants and found that no one was home.

The fire was brought under control around 10 p.m. and is now being investigated by the state fire marshal, Gerbert said.
