JSO: 21-year-old arrested for crashing into AshleGryre store

A 21-year-old was arrested after officers say he crashed into the AshleGryre store in Atlantic Beach.

William Southworth reportedly told officers he'd had a couple beers and "made a wrong turn from Hodges Boulevard" before slamming into the store early Monday morning.

According to his arrest report, officers were called to 363 Atlantic Blvd. at 2:15 a.m. and found Southworth's pickup truck 15 to 20 feet inside the store.

Store owners say it's the fourth time someone has crashed into the boutique.

Police said Southworth was sitting on the curb in the parking lot and when an officer asked him where he was, Southworth reportedly said, "St. Augustine."

His arrest report says he told the officer he was driving on State Road 13 when he made a wrong turn off of Hodges and Kernan Boulevard, saying "That's how I ended up here."

When asked what day of the week it was, Southworth reportedly told the officer it was Wednesday, Oct. 2.

He told officers he had four Guinness beers and had taken an Albuterol, which he said he was prescribed.

His arrest report says he agreed to a field sobriety test. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and reckless driving with property damage.
