JSO arrests 4 men accused of selling drugs near 3 local schools

In January, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office narcotics tactical team 3 made four arrests of suspected drug dealers near three local schools.

The four men were arrested for selling drugs within 1,000 feet of a school.

The police reports explain ecstasy pills, cocaine, and molly were sold near 1st Baptist Academy and School, Lake Forest Elementary School, and Woodland Acres Elementary School.

The arrest reports say undercover officers were posing as drug abusers using $20 to make the purchases.

The Sheriff's Office sent Action News Jax this statement:
"This was part of a citywide buy-bust. The transactions just happened to be near schools. The locations were not specifically targeted. It just happened to be where they were at the moment the undercover buys were taking place."

Action News Jax law and safety expert Dale Carson, explains selling drugs near a school means more time in prison upon conviction.

“You are targeting students to and from school, there is an enhancement," Carson said.

This mean criminals could face additional years in prison because their sales were  within 1,000 feet of a school.
