JSO investigating early morning shooting, one man found shot

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting on Kings Park Drive Saturday morning.

JSO officials say dispatch received a call around 3:20 a.m. about a shooting. When deputies arrived on scene they found a black man, estimated to be in his 30s, with a gunshot wound to his stomach.

Investigators believe the victim may have been shot in another location and then walked to where he was found.

We asked deputies if there were any persons of interest at this time, to which JSO said the investigation is still in its very early stages.

“At this time there is nothing that would lead us to believe there is a concern for the general public by any means. We would ask anybody that has information about this incident to contact us,” JSO Lieutenant Jonathan Barrier said.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

According to Action News Jax’s records, this was the 201st shooting this year.
