Report: Jacksonville man's throat slit, held at gunpoint at Southside apartment

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and witnesses found a man bleeding from his neck at the Monterrey Apartments on Beach Boulevard Tuesday night, according to a police report.

According to the report, officers were responding to a home invasion robbery call.

The report said officers found a man on the ground holding his bleeding neck.

The victim was taken to Memorial Hospital with life threatening injuries, according to JSO.

Action News Jax reporter Ryan Nelson spoke to the man who ran to the victim's aid. The man said he was in the parking lot when he heard someone screaming for help and ran towards the screams.

The man said that’s where he found the victim in the doorway of the apartment covered in blood. He said he tried to provide first aid until the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department arrived.

"I seen the man, he was halfway in the doorway, halfway out. His legs were bound and tied in knots with the sheet. They were also tied with some sort of cable,” the man said.

According to the report, another witness told police the victim said he had been held at gunpoint by three males and they slit his throat.

The suspects are still at large.
