JSO officer, child taken to hospital following I-95 crash in Jacksonville

DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — A police officer and child have been taken to a hospital following a crash, Monday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Both are expected to be OK.

The JSO officer was traveling northbound on I-95 near 8th Street in his patrol car around 5:45 a.m., when it was hit by another vehicle. The collision caused the patrol car to strike a guardrail.

Crews with Jacksonville Fire and Rescue responded and took the officer to a hospital. The officer has minor injuries, JSO said.

A child, approximately 5 years old, that was a passenger in the other vehicle, was also taken to a hospital as a precaution.

The crash is under investigation.
