Ruben Ebron trial postponed Monday in Duval County Court

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jury selection was expected to begin Monday for the trial against Ruben Ebron. However, defense attorneys requested to waive a speedy trial.

The judge granted the continuance.

Ebron faces charges of evidence tampering, child neglect and giving false information to police in connection with the disappearance of Lonzie Barton.

Lonzie was reported missing on July 24 and hasn’t been seen since.

There was a pool of more than 120 potential jurors, which was about twice the number for a normal child neglect case. But, the case has had intense publicity over the last several months.
