Kid Care Report: We get answers from day care about its director's credentials

Every week Action News Jax investigates local child care centers to show you how they measure up to the state guidelines. This week in the Kid Care report Letisha Bereola gets answers from one day care about its director’s credentials.

Cindy C's Day Nursery and Child Care located on Crystal Springs Road had the only class 2 violation out of the 9 recent inspections at The Department of Children and Families. According to DCF it could pose a threat to the health and safety of a child​.

According to DCF, it was operating under a director who didn’t have an active director credential. The director, Cindy Coleman, told me she was in the process of getting it renewed—she also shared a recent family tragedy.

“I’ve always had real good scores but my son passed away in October and I was in process of trying to get everything done but it was a bad situation at that time,” said Coleman. Coleman has until the July to get back into compliance.

The next day care is Academy of Learning on Palmdale Street. Action News Jax checked and found its last 8 inspections were violation free. Academy of Learning had the best record out of the 9 recent reports Action News Jax picked up this week.

“We’re great every year. Every time they come. I’m going to make sure everything is running good,” said Director, Katrina Jones.
