Lake City man confesses to murder of woman killed in a Columbia County motel

The Columbia County Sheriff's Office has arrested a suspect in the murder of a woman found dead inside a Columbia County motel room.

60-year-old Patricia Wood was discovered by deputies during a welfare check at the Sands Motel in Lake City on Tuesday.

Deputies said she had visible signs of trauma to the upper body.

Columbia County Sheriff's Officers arrested 36-year-old Dwayne Arnaz Paige Jr., of Lake City in connection with the Woods' murder, after police say, Paige confessed to killing Woods.

Paige is being held without bond in the Columbia County Detention Facility on one count of murder.
