Local family begging for answers after father of 2 murdered in Arlington

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A local family is begging for answers after a 36-year-old father of two was murdered.

Police said Aquila Jones was shot and killed in a double shooting on Dec. 1, when it happened at the Caroline Village apartments in Arlington. At the time, a witness told JSO two men walked up to a white car and started firing multiple rounds into the car, before running away from the scene.

JSO said when they arrived, they found two men laying on the ground next to the car. According to police, both victims were shot in the upper body and the torso, and over 12 bullet casings were found in the area.

Family members told Action News Jax that Jones was a loving father and brother. They said that what happened to him had brought them to tears and that they didn’t want this to go unsolved

“What happened to him, he didn’t deserve that,” his sister Tamira Jones said. “We’re hurt, we want anybody to know what’s going on to come forward and to know our pain and how we are feeling.”

Tamira told Action News Jax that Aquila would do anything for his family. One of the last things she remembers doing with him was Christmas shopping for his children.
