A local family's pet cat is back home after someone found him hiding out under the J.T. Butler Bridge.

The Freedom Boat Club found Zeke, the pet cat, hiding out under a pillar over the intracoastal.

His owner tells Action News Jax that she lives on Saint Johns Bluff Road -- which means Zeke made it about eight miles before he was found.

"We went to one side of the pier and there was no way to get to the cat there, so we brought a little can of food with us, put it on a plate. The cat definitely looked like he'd been there a couple days. He looked thin," Kevin Selig, the co-owner of The Freedom Boat Club said.

The owner said Zeke has cuts on his back, possibly from a giant bird that may have taken him away.

She says Zeke is home recovering and will never be an outside cat again.

Zeke is microchipped, so they were able to find his home.

Action News Jax reached out to Zeke's owner for before and after pictures of him. The pictures show he's lost about four pounds, part of his lip and it looks like part of his ear.
