Man asks Putnam Sheriff's Office to test his illegal narcotics

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office posted to it's Facebook page Wednesday regarding a situation where a man contacted them after he believed he was sold the wrong illegal drug.

Douglas Kelly, 49, of Hawthorne contacted the sheriff's office after he had a bad reaction from smoking the narcotic he purchased a week earlier, believing he was sold the wrong drug.

Kelly wanted detectives to test the substance because he wanted to press charges against the person who sold him the wrong drug, according to the Facebook post.

Detectives agreed to test the substance if Kelly came to the sheriff's office.

After detectives tested the substance, which tested positive for methamphetamine, Kelly was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine without a prescription.

Kelly is being held on a $5,000 bond.

"Remember, our detectives are always ready to assist anyone who believes they were misled in their illegal drug purchase," the end of the post read.
