The Baker County Sheriff's Office said it responded to an incident Wednesday night where a man barricaded himself in a home.
BCSO said they receive a call around 6 p.m. Wednesday evening that an individual had been shot, and when they arrived the suspect in the shooting had barricaded himself inside his home.
“Once we encountered that subject, he came outside and started firing at our deputies. Our deputies returned fire and ultimately hit him and he was deceased inside the residence," Baker Co. Sheriff Rhoden said.
Baker County Sheriff Rhoden confirmed with Action News Jax reporter Elizabeth Pace that no deputies were hurt in the incident.
BCSO said the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will be taking over the investigation.
“This isn’t frequent thank goodness. We don’t have this very often and it’s a sad day when we do have these incidents, but no they don’t happen often out here in Baker County," Rhoden said.
