Man dies after dirt bike crash at motocross track in Jacksonville

A 45-year-old man died after he crashed his dirt bike at a track in Jacksonville on Tuesday.

Sky Action News Jax was over WW Ranch Motocross Park on Jacksonville's Westside as police investigated Tuesday afternoon.

Officers said Kyle Conger of Fernandina Beach crashed while riding his bike over a jump.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said he was wearing a helmet.

Nobody else was on the track at the time of the crash.

"It’s horrible. It’s sad," neighbor Amy Hunt said. "It’s not good.”

Motocross rider Buck Riggie said he’s ridden at the WW Ranch at least ten times and calls the track safe.

“I don’t see it as a safety concern. I mean I’m not going to lie. Motocross, there is a danger,” Riggie said.

Action News Jax reached out to the WW Ranch Motocross Park and searched public records.

We did not find any cases involving the track.

WW Ranch Motocross Park’s Facebook page has a rating of almost five out of five stars.

The track is closed Wednesday, according to the latest post from the page.

The track was also closed Tuesday after the crash.

Action News Jax reached out for comment from the WW Ranch over the phone and on social media.  A woman who identified herself as the wife of the track’s owner told us over Facebook:

Out of respect for the riders family we are focusing our thoughts and prayers on his family and friends."
