JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is dead after police with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office found him suffering from a gunshot wound in the back of a car during a traffic stop.
According to police, Tuesday at approximately 11:45 p.m., ShotSpotter, a gunshot detector system, alerted JSO about a possible shooting in the 3600 block of Effee Street.

JSO said their officers quickly responded to the area and performed a traffic stop on a white, four-door car seen leaving the area.
Inside the car, police said they found a 27-year-old man who had been shot. He was taken to UF Health where he was pronounced deceased.

Police said they have a person who was in the car in custody for questioning.

There were several shell casings found in the road. There is no suspect information at this time, according to police.
