Manatee rescued after being stranded in low tide in St. Johns River

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission made several manatee rescues last week, including the rescue of one that was stranded during low tide in the St. Johns River.

Along with the FWC, the Sea to Shore Alliance and the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded to a call about an adult manatee that was stranded in the river.

FWC officials said the manatee was grounded on mud flats and showed signs of cold-stress syndrome.

The manatee was take to the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens for rehabilitation.
