Mandarin Middle School student investigated for Snapchat post with gun

A Mandarin Middle School student is under investigation after a Snapchat post surfaced of her appearing to point a gun at the camera.

A parent accused the same student of threatening her 11-year-old daughter with physical violence over the past couple of weeks.

“It just makes me feel not safe to send my kids to school,”Hahlah Ideis said.

The Duval County Public Schools district said it was aware of a verbal conflict and conducted a conflict resolution with Ideis’ child and the other student.

Ideis claims the school never contacted her about the original threats.

“I'm upset because things fall through the cracks. I wasn't contacted,” Ideis said.

The district said it never received a report of a student being threatened with a gun and that as soon as the principal was made aware of the Snapchat post, it called a law enforcement agency to conduct a threat assessment and an investigation.

They district said that, in the post, the student did not make any threats against individuals or against the 11-year-old student.
