CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A man is dead after his SUV collided with a van on State Road 16 Sunday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Shawn Mcleod, 51, of Middleburg was driving westbound on SR-16 around 9:50 p.m. and veered into the eastbound lane, hitting a van driving eastbound, head-on. Troopers said Mcleod died of his injuries. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
FHP said the seven people inside the van during the crash were taken to various hospitals with serious injuries. None of them were from the Jacksonville-area.
