Missing mother, four children all found dead; husband may face murder charges

Michael Jones is being held at the Brantley County jail on second-degree murder charges for allegedly killing his wife and her four children.

The bodies of Casei Jones and possibly her four children were found a day after they were reported missing from Marion County, Florida.

“It’s a terrible thing. I’m out of words,” Tom Thompson, a neighbor in the area where Casei Jones' body was found, said.

“It’s alarming to know it’s right here at the house,” another neighbor, Donnie Aspinwall, said.

The woman's 38-year-old husband, Michael Jones, is now being questioned in connection with her death.

Investigators believe Michael Jones stored the bodies at his home and in his van for several weeks before taking them to Georgia.

Action News Jax went to the area where Michael Jones’ car was found crashed Sunday night along U.S. 301 near the Hickox community.

Tom Thomas, who has lived in the area for 19 years, said that, when he approached the car, he smelled a horrible odor coming from inside.

“I asked him if he was alright. He said he was alright, but he acted very suspicious to me and there were beer cans that came out of the passenger side of the vehicle. He was already out of the vehicle when I got here,” Thomas said.

After Jones was arrested, he told police they need to look for bodies in a wooded area in Charlton County off U.S. 301, according to authorities.

“We have finally located the remains of all four children. As a father, as a parent, it breaks my heart.  As a sheriff, it angers me to no end. Something to this degree, how a human being can even do this,” said Sheriff Woods, with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Neighbors are in disbelief.

“It just breaks my heart for the children. What a disrespect to a body of any person. God’s child should be treated much better than that,” Thomas said.

Michael Jones has not been charged yet with the children’s deaths. He remains in the Brantley County jail.
