JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — More military spouses could be joining Jacksonville’s workforce.
Lou Jane Bishop said she loves being married to a military man, but relocating with little notice is a struggle.
She and her husband were transferred from Guam to Jacksonville two years ago.

“You have to find a new job, new friends, and family, relatives and you have to be part of the community," Bishop said. "So, it’s kind of hard for us to transfer.”
The expectant mom is a volunteer at USO Mayport.
She said she’d like to find a paying job, but it has been difficult.
“You have to get all those specific certificates and it’s hard to find another job in here,” Bishop explained.

A new police reimburses military spouses for up to $500 of license and certification costs in the state where they’re permanently relocated.
Spouse looking to receive reimbursement must have been working the filed where they previously lived and successfully complete relicensure or certification in their new state.
Bishop believes it will ease the impact of military moves.
