JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Approximately 40 Jeeps and trucks circled around Fernandina Beach City Hall on Tuesday night ahead of the city commission meeting.
Drivers said it was a show of solidarity in support of parking on Nassau County beaches.
Some city and county leaders have suggested making changes to beach driving because of safety concerns.

Beach days include driving along the shore for Rich Schierbaum.
He said, “It’s convenient. You don’t have to carry everything. You can just work out of the back of your car.”
Sky Action News Jax flew over Peter’s Point on Tuesday, noting that dozens of cars lined the sand.
In May, surveillance video captured an SUV trampling a sunbather at the park.
Two people have been run over on the beach this year.
“The girls that get run over, it’s pretty tragic. You’ve just got to be so careful, “Schierbaum explained.

Monday, Action News Jax was there as Nassau County commissioners considered adding beach cameras, and limiting speed in areas where cars can drive.
Tuesday drivers took to the roads of Fernandina to protect what they call their right to park on the sand.
Scheirbaum told Action News Jax he’s against a beach driving ban.
He concedes that safety is of upmost importance.
“I always look around my truck before I leave, make sure there’s not little kids around it. There’s a lot of blind spots and stuff like that – you’ve just got to be so careful,” he said.
Some of the drivers who participated in the ride around also sat in on Tuesday night’s city commission meeting.
Beach parking was not on the meeting agenda.
