JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Neighbors living at one Southside apartment complex are getting anxious.
They are worried by a lack of updates from police three days after a young mother was slain there.
According to JSO, the woman was shot and killed Friday inside the Gardens at Bridgehampton apartments.
Police have been tight-lipped about the case.
There has been no word of officers being any closer to an arrest and it is why one mom who lives there says she is now considering moving out.
Ramya Garaga and her 6-year-old son livenext to the building where the shooting happened.
“I’m thinking that I want to move,’ Garaga explained.
JSO got a call about shots fired just before five p.m. Friday and when they got there they found a woman's body inside.
“I’m not letting my kids out,” added Garaga.
It was the second person to be fatally shot off Gate Parkway in the past week.
The first slaying happened just a mile away at Century at Deerwood Park apartments where a 25-year-old man was shot and killed in the parking lot.
“The Gate Parkway just a few years back, it was the very safest place but now I saw so many incidents like this one and one near to our community,” Garaga said.
Many people who live at the complex didn't want to talk to us on camera.
But some stopped to say they don’t believe the woman’s slaying was random.
Action News Jax Reporter Jamarlo Phillips checked crime mapping for this area.
Over the past month JSO has been called 30 times within a 1-mile stretch of the area for crimes like burglary battery to illegal use of credit cards.
