Neighbors concerned after suspicious man seen lurking near young girls

“He tried to talk to her through the passenger window and I could tell that she didn’t know who he was,” said Alisha Robertson.

Robertson said she quickly switched into mom mode as she noticed a man in a white truck approaching a young woman jogging down McFarlane Avenue in Lake City Tuesday evening.

“He got out of the truck and started walking over towards the sidewalk,” she said.

Robertson said she could tell the teen didn’t know who the man was.

“I just stopped and started beeping the horn. He drove off quick as soon as he seen she came to my car, he drove off,” Robertson said.

She said the teen thanked her for stopping. The Lake City Police Department said it searched the area for the older white truck, but couldn’t find it. A spokesperson said they’ve added extra patrol.

Robertson said she’s glad she listened to her gut, and hopes others will look out for others.

“I am a mother, and I stopped because I would want somebody to stop for me and my children,” she said.

Robertson’s post on Facebook warning others has been shared more than 700 times. One woman commented and said she also noticed a man in a white truck less than a mile away watching two young girls walking down the street.
