On Thursday, some neighbors in Clay County celebrated as a new dispensary opened up giving people more options for treatment.

The opening of the new medical marijuana dispensary is a godsend for many people like Krys Staton.
“My family will tell you how much better I am. This last year has been amazing. I just renewed my license for the first time,” Staton said.
She said she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and severe migraines. Now with a new Curaleaf location to offer her prescription she said it’s been somewhat of a relief.
“After 12 years of being severely medicated with high dose antipsychotics we were able to take down my dosage of antipsychotics with the use of the medical marijuana. And with the smokable flower now I can wipe a migraine out instantly,” Staton said.
The Curaleaf in Clay County is the second location in the Jacksonville area and the 24th in the state of Florida equipped with various products for people who need this type of medication.
The regional director Vinit Patel said there are many versions that can be prescribed.
“Smokable form and inhalation, orals, tinctures, capsules, topicals, many products like that,” Patel said.
Each patients recommendations are unique and everyone will need a prescription from a licensed doctor to purchase any form of the product including smokable marijuana that was just approved in the state.
“It was very well received in the state of Florida. The patient count grows by several thousand every week,” Patel said.
