New York man blackmails Jacksonville teen into sending nude photos, police say

A New York man is in jail in Jacksonville after officers say he blackmailed a local teenager into sending him nude photos.

Manavjit Singh, 25, was arrested on charges including extortion, aggravated stalking and possessing child pornography.

Action News Jax obtained a 14-page arrest affidavit that shows Singh communicated with an underage Jacksonville girl through a chatroom.

The document said he pressured her into sending him sexually explicit or nude photographs.

He then posted her photos online and threatened to kill her family, the report said.

Action News Jax Law and Safety Expert Dale Carson said the law is catching up with the types of crimes being committed today.

“We see slowly that the law is beginning to keep up with current trends because 10 years ago there was no ability to do this, to take a photograph and instantly publish that,” Carson said.

Singh is being held on a nearly-$500,000 bond.
