ORIGINAL STORY - Officers swarm a local apartment complex and blocked it off for hours Wednesday evening.

At one point the officers began ordering people to get out of an apartment with their hands ups, "Come out of the apartment with your hands in the air."

A nearby school was also put on lockdown because of the situation.

Action News Jax reporter Amber Krycka learned from the scene that officers were looking for suspect in a shooting.

Krycka says that neighbors tell her that the officers have been out there since 1 p.m. this afternoon. The neighbors tell her some officers were on top of a roof with rifles out, while other officers with the security team for the apartment complex were checking cars driving through to  make sure anyone driving in lives there.

Action News Jax has reached out the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office about what is going on. JSO has confirmed it has officers there and that it will release information when information is available.

The chief with the security team told Krycka that there was shooting not on the property, but somewhere else and that police were able to track the suspect on live cameras throughout the city.

The chief told Krycka that the suspect were supposedly seen going  into Hilltop apartments.

Some neighbors tell Krycka that the suspects got away and are no longer at the apartment complex. The Chief tells Krycka that no one was arrested at the complex, but that no one was in any danger.

Krycka said that they will have extra security at the complex tonight.
