Orange Park shop claiming to sell over-the-counter medical marijuana shut down by deputies

The Clay County Sheriff's Office has closed a local business that allegedly sells items laced with the active ingredient in marijuana.

Action News Jax first told you about the CBD Dispensary last week; it was selling everything from lotions to brownies mixed with THC. On Tuesday, the store was raided by a joint task force led by CCSO.

Deputies said the dispensary at 418 Kingsley Ave. didn’t have a license and was selling to people without a prescription.

Owner Logan Redmond told Action News Jax by phone that it's a misunderstanding. Redmond claims under the Charlotte’s Web law, the store can sell the products because they only have a small amount of THC, the chemical in marijuana that gets you high.

"I think they don't have all their facts straight and they just jumped the gun," Redmond said.

However, under Charlotte’s Web, patients who receive low-THC products must visit two doctors. In addition, the sheriff’s office said the business didn’t have a CBD license and wasn't following any of the requirements of a dispensary.
