Man in custody for reportedly threatening Jacksonville code enforcement; parents attack police

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A local family is behind bars, accused of phoning in threats to the city of Jacksonville, then attacking officers who responded with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Only Action News Jax has obtained a recording of those calls from a source.

"I’m just telling you guys to come on my property, anybody comes on my property, they're going to get shot," the caller said.

These were the final words that the caller said to a city operator before hanging up, without giving his name.

“If they come back, there's going to be some trouble," the caller said.

In the phone call recording, the man continues to make threats over course of the three-minute conversation. Police said he was angry about code enforcement leaving citations at his house Wednesday.

"Why did this guy come into my yard looking in my cars? He could have got shot,” said the caller.

Action News Jax responded to the scene on Muncy Road after the suspect called our newsroom.

Sky Action News Jax, the only local news helicopter, showed the large police response.

Officers said the man ran into the home and barricaded himself after his parents attacked them.

"He was threatening to get a gun and shoot the police, he said it over and over,” Lt. Jimmy Judge said.

After about an hour of negotiations, he surrendered.

According to police, they are working to get the family help after they get out of jail.
