JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A North Jacksonville community is rallying behind their neighbors after police found two people dead and one person in critical condition in an apparent murder-suicide on Mother's Day.
Investigators with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office believe a man shot two women then turned the gun on himself.
“All I heard was a little bit of arguing, I didn’t hear any gunshots,” Tyler Bloom said. He has lived across the street for several years and said he has been friends with a girl who lives there, Jodie Lore.
“I texted her and she read my message right before it all went down,” Bloom said. “We were just talking about the football game and how I wanted to see her then all of that went down.”
Action News Jax has reached out to the victim’s family and police to confirm their identities.
Another family friend and neighbor, told Action News Jax -- a “happy” family of three lived in the mobile home: Tim Ricks, his wife Willette Ricks, and their niece Jodie Lore, whom they were raising as their own.
According to the Duval County Property Appraiser, Tim and Willette Ricks are listed as the property owners.
The family friend said their children go to school together and now is in contact with their extended family who also lives nearby. He said they are “very upset” and asking for privacy.
