Police investigating cause of ATV crash

Seventeen-year-old Ashley Digton is in stable condition at UF Health after a crash on an ATV Friday.

St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office traffic section and the major crimes unit are investigating the factors that led to the ATV crash.

Police responded to reports of a crash at Jackson Boulevard and Second Avenue in St. Johns County ay approximately 10:30 p.m.

Police determined the two women were driving on a four-wheeler, when they collided with a SUV.

Dighton was air-lifted to UF Health with life-threatening injuries and the other woman on the ATV, Shana Devoe, was driven to Flager Hospital.

Detectives are continuing the investigation and charges are pending.
