2 dead, 1 hurt after shooting in Westside neighborhood

Jacksonville, Fla — Two people are dead and one person is hurt following a shooting at a neighborhood on Jacksonville’s Westside Friday.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said just before 9 a.m., officers responded to a shooting at a home in the 9500 block of Watershed Drive at the Walkers Hamlet neighborhood near Beaver Street.

When they arrived, they found a woman and and a man dead. Another man was found with multiple gunshot wounds. JSO said he was taken to the hospital.

Police said the three people knew each other but are unsure of the relationship. No one else was at the home at the time of the incident and there are no outstanding suspects, according to JSO.

When asked if it appeared to be a murder-suicide, JSO said they can’t say and that it’s a “possibility.” At the time of the news conference, police did not have a chance to speak with the man that was taken to the hospital.

Police said they recovered one firearm at the scene. JSO told Action News Jax they received a call through dispatch but couldn’t say who made the call.

Officers said the incident was not a standoff situation but the SWAT team was called out because it’s safer to have them there while clearing residents.
