ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. - A man faces a felony charges of aggravated animal cruelty for reportedly killing his dog with a machete.
The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office responded to an animal cruelty complaint Saturday evening in the 2600 block of San Juan Drive.

A witness told deputies that; the suspect, 59-year-old Charles Edward Allen, killed his dog with a machete because it bit him. SJCO said the witness saw the dead dog lying in the woods behind a home.
Allen told deputies that he killed the dog because the dog bit him several times.

Allen was taken to Flagler Hospital to receive treatment and was later booked into the St. Johns County Jail.
He is being held on a $25,000 bond.
