Jacksonville teen possibly followed leaving local YMCA found safe, police say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE: Police announced Monday morning that they have located missing Jacksonville teenager Tylia Hayes. She was reported missing Sunday evening in the Riverside area.

Authorities say this is an ongoing and active investigation.

This comes after a statewide alert was issued in Florida.

Police are asking for the public's help in locating a missing Jacksonville teenager who was reported missing late Sunday evening.

Tylia Asante Hayes, 15, was believed to be last seen at a YMCA center in the 200 block of Riverside Avenue around 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the teen reported that she was possibly being followed as she left the area on foot.

Hayes was wearing a dark blue jacket, gray flip-flops and glasses.

Authorities said Hayes has brown eyes and black hair. She is approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs approximately 190 pounds.

Anyone with any information on her whereabouts is asked to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500.

A Florida Missing Child Alert has also been issued.

Missing/Endangered Juvenile The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is currently looking for a missing juvenile and are in need of the community’s assistance. In the late evening hours of Sunday, December 9, 2018 Tylia Asante Hayes was reported missing. Her last known location is believed to be in the 200 block of Riverside Avenue around 7:30 pm. As she left from the Y.M.C.A. on foot, she reported the possibility of being followed. It is unknown at this time where Tylia may be, however, due to the circumstances involved in her disappearance, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is attempting to locate her and ascertain her safety.
